What Makes a Fabulous Wedding Venue?

Lately I've been looking at so many wedding venues for couple getting married next year and even looked at one that was currently in the process of being built in Nottinghamshire. It got me wondering about what makes that perfect wedding venue - is it the way it looks, the way it feels, the accommodation, the garden, the decor? What makes a couple chose one venue over another and is there such a thing as a perfect venue I wonder?

Of course one of the most important things you can look for in a venue is that you feel it fits with your own particular style and the style of the wedding you want, after all its pretty difficult to have a really contemporary, quirky and modern wedding in a 12th Century castle! 

One of the things my clients consistently look for in a venue is the feeling that they can make the place their own for the time they are they, they want to be able to relax and wander around and they want their guests to be able to do the same without anyone looking over their shoulder and moaning about where they are putting their drink down or worrying about the furniture or paintings on the wall (it happens!).

I've found time after time that what makes a perfect venue is the flexibility of the staff and the owners. The venues that let you do what you want with the space, allow you to decorate how you want, allow you to use the suppliers that YOU want rather than the people they have financial deals with and the ones that of course make you feel like you are the only bride that has ever got married there - these venues are worth their weight in gold and they really are worth seeking out for that once in a lifetime day!
